Web sites of most companies use the .com domain extension, they have permeated the world with publicity invoking their domain name. Now the dot com is the most sounding ending for web names on people's mind, making it the choice for an easier remembering of your own domain name. This will not mean you have to stick forever with such unique name, because you can also use other different names and extensions as alias, all of them pointing to your site. The 'www' is NOT part of your domain name - this is a server issue. Many servers REQUIRE the use of this prefix, ours work with or without (either way). Your domain name can be made of: letters of the alphabet, numbers 0 to 9, dash (hyphen) and the ending suffix, like .com or .net or .org (the maximum length for a domain name is 67 characters TOTAL). Capitalization is not an issue on registration (case is not considered, AmongCrowds.com is the same as amongcrowds.com), this simply depends on whether or not your hosting server supports it. Symbols (>.<?!*...) are not allowed, just the score (-). Names of 4 or less characters have a higher cost. Take a time to define your domain name. It should be not too long, to make it easy to remember (mnemotechnical). Take by example the name of this site. It is generic, it does not sticks with a specific offer. It empowers a sense of growth.

WHERE TO BUY

There are many registrar sites offering you where to buy a domain name. Most of them offer only domains, not hosting. Look for a private domain registration. Buy where you can get affiliated for free, or where your buying gives you the affiliation right, to start getting paid for your sales, anyone can do it. 1and1 is the registrar to go.
